Simple French food without the myths ! Rubbishing the view that French food is laden with butter and cream, Guinebault says her southern French-style recipes are healthy, easy to prepare and affordable. The cook book provides recipes that have been honed by the feedback from more than 200 students. Mostly southern recipes Olivia has given a Mediterranean twist, the book also contains helpful tips and provides a basic guide to Western cuisine with instructions on how to set the table or plan a dinner party. Guinebault, who cooks everyday for herself, says her students can start with virtually no knowledge of Western cooking to within six weeks being able to plan and prepare a three-course meal. I wanted to show people that cooking is enjoyable and easy and everyone can do it, she said. More information about the bookis available from the website cuisinemeiwenti. Informations liée au Auteur: A love of cooking inspired Frenchwoman Olivia Guinebault to start her own cooking classes in Shanghai, teaching expats, Chinese and maids how to prepare French cuisine. Debunking the myth that French food is only for expert and laden with butter and cream, her southern French-style recipes are healthy, easy to prepare and affordable. She wants to encourage people to ditch the fast food and home deliveries and cook for themselves. In keeping with this approach, she calls her book Cuisine Mei Wenti, combining the French word for cooking and a common Chinese expression meaning no problem. Cooking should be taken light- heartedly, she says. Food and multicultural cuisine were always a part of family life for Olivia Guinebault, whose grandparents lived in Morocco. She was born in the tropical climes of Reunion Island off Madagascar. She also lived in the US, in Shanghai and is now in Spain where she is happy to discover new cuisine style.
