Peace in 2026?The book offers a factual analysis of the diplomatic, military, and political dynamics of the Ukrainian conflict since 2014. It focuses in particular on the evolution of the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia over the past 12 years. It looks back at several rounds of negotiations during which possible agreements were discussed, sometimes welcomed by Moscow, but which did not come to fruition due to external pressures, military events, or changes in position. The book details Russia's conditions for opening a peace process, based on Ukraine's neutrality and withdrawal from certain areas, as well as Ukraine's expectations in terms of security and international guarantees. It highlights the evolution of Western support, from initial massive military backing to increased interest in a diplomatic solution from 2024-2025 onwards. In 2026, will the conditions be right for Kiev and Moscow to finally reconcile their positions? Will the United States succeed in imposing a genuine diplomatic dynamic in the face of a still-divided Europe? Is a peace agreement realistic in the short term, or will it be necessary to wait for a more favorable context for negotiations to succeed? These are also questions that Jacques Baud, a world authority on the conflict, attempts to answer. Jacques Baud is a former member of Swiss strategic intelligence, a specialist in Eastern European countries, and head of UN peacekeeping doctrine. He participated in discussions with senior Russian military and intelligence officials immediately after the fall of the USSR. Within NATO, he participated in programs in Ukraine, particularly after the Maidan revolution between 2014 and 2017. He is the author of several books on intelligence, war, and terrorism, including Putin, the Master of the Game? Operation Z, Ukraine Between War and Peace, The Art of Russian Warfare, Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and Governing Through Fake News, published by Max Milo.
