While Dr. Evans F. Duger (« Doug ») are performing an experiment with his « Boomerang » on an old railroad line, he discovers a time portal. He decides to go back in time to help the father of his best friend Handy McGowan. Then, due to an accident, he ends up at the end of the XIX century where he falls in love and marries the beautiful biochemist Cybril Baxton. When he finds out that Cybril's father, Wilmor, has accepted a duel (that would mean Wilmor's certain death) with the baron John-Lee Cromwell, Doug journeys back through time to find the manuscript that was destroyed during a Viking invasion in Scotland in the XI century.
