Negli anni pari, l’«Associazione Internazionale per lo studio della Retorica Biblica e Semitica» organizza un convegno alla Pontificia Università Gregoriana (Roma). Diventa questa l’occasione per ricercatori e studiosi del campo di esporre i risultati del loro lavoro di analisi e di confrontarli con gli altri. Partecipano al convegno anche gli studenti, spesso dottorandi, del Dipartimento di teologia biblica della facoltà romana, ma anche di altre istituzioni internazionali. Il volume degli Atti offre i saggi dei contributori che hanno partecipato al nono convegno nel 2024. In apertura del volume appaiono due dossier storici: uno sulla scoperta della retorica biblica, firmato dal Presidente della RBS, P. Roland Meynet SJ, e uno sull’applicazione della metodologia nel campo degli studi coranici, firmato da Michel Cuypers, pioniere in questo campo presso l’IDEO del Cairo. Seguono due parti consacrate ai testi della Bibbia — Antico e Nuovo Testamento —, mentre l’ultima è dedicata ad altri testi semitici, che spaziano dall’alveo egizio, a quello pre-islamico, fino a composizioni più recenti. Chiudono il volume l’ultimo saggio di Gérard Joyau, monaco cistercense e membro dell’associazione, recentemente scomparso, sulla Regola di San Benedetto, e un saggio di Benoît Vermander SJ, docente presso la Fudan University di Shanghai, sulla composizione letteraria nei classici cinesi.In even-numbered years, the “International Association for the Study of Biblical and Semitic Rhetoric” organizes a conference at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome). This serves as an opportunity for researchers and scholars in the field to present the results of their analyses and discuss them with others. Students, often doctoral candidates, from the Department of Biblical Theology at the Roman university, as well as from other international institutions, also participate in the conference. The volume of Proceedings features the essays of the contributors who participated in the ninth conference in 2024. The volume opens with two historical dossiers: one on the discovery of Biblical Rhetoric, authored by the President of the RBS, Fr. Roland Meynet, S.J., and one on the application of the methodology in the field of Qur’anic studies, authored by Michel Cuypers, a pioneer in this field at the IDEO in Cairo. These are followed by two sections devoted to biblical texts—the Old and New Testaments—while the final section is dedicated to other Semitic texts, ranging from Egyptian and pre-Islamic sources to more recent works. The volume concludes with the final essay by Gérard Joyau, a Cistercian monk and member of the association who recently passed away, on the Rule of St. Benedict, and an essay by Benoît Vermander, S.J., a professor at Fudan University in Shanghai, on literary composition in Chinese classics.
