7th Conference on the Mechanical Behavior of Salt

The 7th conference on the Mechanical Behavior of salt, held in Paris, France, in April 2012, lies on the tradition of the previous conferences held in Pensylvania (1981), Hannover (1984), Palaiseau (1993), Montreal (1996), Bucarest (1999) and Hannover (2007). Its objective is to put together scientists and engineers involved in research and management of underground structures in salt formations, in the view of a deep exchange on the latest state of the art in salt mechanics applied to mines and storage caverns for gas/hydrocarbon, radioactive waste and toxic waste disposal.Selected papers on laboratory experiments, constitutive/numerical modelling and field investigations are presented. They deal with creep, damage, thermo-hydromechanical and chemical coupled effects, lessons learnt from real sites and structures and in-situ monitoring.
